Indoor Garden Design with IKEA

We have two more award-winning Special Event installations to feature before Christmas. The first is a project by Indoor Garden Design with IKEA.

General information
This event came about in celebration of our Creative Director, Ian Drummond’s 25 years at IGD and 30 years working in the industry.

His dream was to write a book on house plants and creative ways of styling them in different rooms of the house and his book called “At Home With Plants” was published in the UK in April 2017. Since then it has seen huge success both in the UK and also internationally, being translated into 7 languages to date!

In May 2017 IGD partnered with IKEA to co-create the ‘At Home With Plants” installation at RHS Chelsea Flower Show where it won a Silver Medal. It was a way of bringing all the ideas from the book alive. The RHS then invited us to re-exhibit the installation at the RHS London Urban Show, this time making it more interactive with a chance to plant up a terrarium, take cuttings etc…

Since then several ‘mini’ versions have been created for regional press shows for IKEA and also the Flower Council of Holland.

‘At Home With Plants’ has picked up on a huge amount of press since the book was first published, gaining coverage in newspapers, magazines, radio and also seen on TV (Gardeners World – April 2018).

This was such a great project to work on and the response from the public was great at any of the locations.

Lots of questions were asked, about the plant varieties we had used, the plants they already had at home and we had lots of requests for advice on styling their plants in a more contemporary and imaginative way.
