Project: MOOG
Moog moved into their new glass fronted contemporary building 2 years ago, the offices lacked greenery and looked very sterile. They had an upcoming VIP overseas visit 8-weeks after the initial consultation. We highlighted key areas that needed to be softened and to inject a biophilic look to the offices and reception, making sure their customer journey was also very striking. They have a wonderful 1st floor balcony where you can look down and see the overhead view of the planted furniture and the moss wall.
This site for our clients MOOG is not a standard plant in pots offering. The scheme was designed to a high specification to work with the unique design features in the building. We crafted and captivated a moss wall with mixed moss incorporating LED signage as a key feature. The seahorse bespoke furniture within the scheme captured and followed the contours of the moss wall. It was planted with some feature Ficus trees and a mix of underplants including Strelitzia chosen for their colour, form and texture, which gave a lustrous illusion, transforming a long straight walkway.
Meticulously planted greenery was planted throughout the offices alongside inbuilt cabinet troughs. The walkway had a handcrafted moss feature using the MOOG letters filled with mixed moss, this not only brought the wall to life it also helped to add additional noise absorption within the space.
We created a timeline to get all the elements made and installed on time. We worked diligently to create the vision into a reality, and we were so pleased with the result. Kate who made the moss wall and John Baxter and his team for the Moss wall installation alongside our fantastic installation team, all of the MOOG staff and our team were absolutely delighted with the transformation.
We had 3-4 weeks notice to present and finalise the design, getting bespoke furniture designed and made alongside organising many different suppliers from sign makers / logistics / operations / was a huge challenge. There were lots of onsite meetings with the electricians as they were channelling the electrics behind the moss wall that needed to be in the correct spot and height. This was tricky to do without the actual wall in place, so we had templates made for accuracy. Sectioning off the area during office hours in the middle of their narrow walkway was also challenging at times.
There were quite a few suppliers to co-ordinate plus organising all the materials to be delivered directly to site, we ordered the exact amount of soil, plants and labour for the scheme which meant there was no wasted materials. A special thanks to Roy Cowley who organised all the behind the scenes flawlessly. We carried out the installation during office hours with minimal disruption and all the staff at MOOG could see the progress so it was the talking point of the office during installation week; everyone was so engaged in the transformation and that was lovely to witness.
