Let's start a new Valentine trend

Nobody can have missed the fact that today is Valentine's Day from the amount of adverts for 'dine in for two' meals from supermarkets to deals on red roses. The day is named after St Valentine but the link to lovers is a little tenuous; you can read the history here. However we love traditions and see no reason to ditch this one.

What a gift, the Pilea

Just as some have added Galentine to the tradition for you best girlfriends (usually celebrated on 13 February), we'd like to introduce a new trend #WorkplaceValentines.

It occurred to us that while many of us meet our future partners at work, it's also probable that we spend more time with colleagues at work than we do with our loved ones. So why not celebrate the day by giving a colleague - your #workwife, #workhusband or #workpartner - a plant for their desk or shelf.

For instance, we love these Hoya Heats (actually a rooted leaf cutting from the Hoya kerrii plant). You can add your own stick message if more appropriate to this succulent.

You'd also be adding to their wellbeing with a plant to keep the air cleaner and also their stress levels lower. The boss might even thank you if their productivity goes up too.
