Mick Hamer retires today. He was born in April 1956 in Llandrindod Wells. He retires this spring after 39 years in the plant industry aged 66 years young, married to Nancy, with 5 children and 10 grandchildren.

He is passionate Leeds FC supporter, a proud Welsh man, and big motorcycle GP fan. Mick Started working for George Hopwood based in Prees, Shropshire in 1983, working locally and nationally in everything horticulture initially.

Later mainly in the interior industry nationally, George sold the plant business to William Braid (Jardinerie Interiors ) in 1993/4.

Jardinerie interiors had the base set up at Tarporley Garden Centre and became the North team. This grew well over the years and Mick was a big part of this growing, planting up, installing and service of displays, also some exterior seasonal bedding work, new pubs and hotels having hanging baskets and planted displays.

As this grew the team and company grew too, picking up many local and national clients.
The largest was The Trafford Centre.

Jardinerie sold to PHS Greenleaf in late 1999 .

In 2006, Mick joined UrbanPlanters.

Other large award winning installations Mick worked on are The Winter Gardens in Sheffield; Blue Water Shopping Centre, Kent; Regatta Manchester. Carden Park Spa, The Glasshouse, Amazon, The Spine Liverpool. And many many more.

His extensive knowledge and experience working with large tree installs both live and replica has been greatly valued, his flexibility to help on the service of plants when required is amazing. His eye and skill when working on bespoke projects is second to none, especially working with replica plants, moss work and Christmas too. Recently helping train and share experience with new team members, has been a credit to him, not forgetting the humour and on-going jokes and stories to share with new staff and clients too.

Mick is a truely good guy, and will be missed massively.
