Case Study – Elton John Aids Foundation (EJAF)

For the next few weeks, we will continue to highlight the Special Event installations that won Leaf awards earlier this year. This category isn't necessarily all of or members get involved with on a regular basis, but some have become well-known for it and most would be happy to design something for you if offered the opportunity.

This event was for the Elton John Aids Foundation

General information
This special event marked our 10th successive year of working with Elton’s Foundation to create a spectacular centre piece.

Each year presented our creative team with a new challenge and this year we were asked to create a photo backdrop to be used as the guests arrived and also as they left the event.

The event theme was the colour pink and so we created a 5m x 3m ‘flower wall’ including the sponsors ‘Bulgari’ logo. We used flowers in vibrant pink, purple and blue such as Peonies, Hydrangeas and Roses with mixed foliage and moss.

The logo lettering itself was made from polystyrene and the individual letters were carefully pinned into the flower wall.

In order to keep the cost as low as possible during the event we moved the whole wall from the arrival and entrance area over to the exit – the wall weighed over 1.5 tonnes!

Flowers: Peonies, Hydrangeas, Roses and mixed foliage
Lettering: Polystyrene, painted matt gold

As a high profile event we were thrilled to be asked to be involved in this very worthwhile cause once again.

The images of the many celebrities photographed in front of the flower wall showed how highly effective the installation looked and we were very proud of the finished look our creative team achieved.

Moving the large and very heavy finished wall from the reception area to the exit, took a great deal of planning, patience and great attention to detail so that the effect remained as impactful at the end of the evening as the beginning.
