NPWW 2024 - Measuring the success Part 1

After last success with the location, Shirley Smith owner of Botanica Nurseries and Committee Member arranged for the plants@work team to use the space at the Theale Business Park for this year’s #plantsatworkweek installation, a market stall full of plants.

Stall LR

The market stall was put together by the team with Ian Drummond taking the lead making sure that the #VitaminPlant stall ensured that the five plants in the running for #FavouriteOfficePlant were visible for visitors to the stand.

Joanna had prepared #VitaminPlant ‘recipe’ cards to give away to visitors to the stand and they were also available for members to use in their own promotions during the week.

Whilst Joanna took photos to use during the week, our professional photographer took images to use for external publicity purposes (images above).

Once again our thanks go to this team – Ian Drummond of Ian Drummond Botanical Designs, Shirley and James Smith of Botanica Nurseries Ltd - for preparing this year’s #VitaminPlant installation for #plantsatworkweek.

Joanna interviewed the team who worked on the installation. You can read her interview with Ian Drummond here. Ian, our Ambassador, was the original brainchild behind the NPWW idea and most of the concepts over the last twelve years since.

During the day, Joanna also interviewed our Chairman, Kenneth Freeman,

She also interviewed Shirley and James Smith of Botanica Nurseries who over the last three years, have supplied a space where the installation could take place while supplying plants for the event too.

During the week Joanna also produced a number of ‘gifs’ to post on social media.

The main release: 5 a day with Vitamin Plant

Once again, the release was distributed via PR Newswire on Monday 8 July, Day One of NPWW. We also sent it to the Horticulture press, the FM and HR press. You can read the release, 5 a day with Vitamin Plant here:

Favourite Office Plant 2024
We asked a team of well known spokes-people for the industry to select their top two plants from a choice of five.

The choice was between:

  • Strelitzia
  • Ficus elastica Burgundy
  • Dracaena marginata
  • Croton
  • Scindapsus

The plants were considered by a panel of judges: Matthew Appleby, Editor of Horticulture Week, Nina Mason & Bethany Vann of Pro Landscaper, Claudia de Yong, Award-winning garden designer and Michael Perry aka Mr PlantGeek.

The overall winner was the Ficus elastic Burgundy for its ‘retro charm’ and ‘architectural nobility’, closely followed by the Croton with its Autumnal colourings and then the Scindapsus for its hardy nature and ease of care.

 ‘It’s #PlantsAtWorkWeek

To celebrate, we want to throw it back to one of our most creative Summer installations, made up of some of our favourite plants grown from seedling to bloom in the Fleurtations' nursery.

How are you celebrating National Plants at Work Week?’
