Design and Installation
Shoosmiths LLP Birmingham
by Urban Planters
Shoosmiths wanted a plant scheme to reflect the design that went into their new office across 3 floors. We installed a mix of live and replica plants throughout, from table top displays to 2m plus tall Ficus. The real highlight being the 20th floor space where there are an array of mixed displays in the client lounge area, making it feel more like a boutique café than a law firm’s waiting lounge.
Shoosmiths were eager to incorporate planting across the entire space, including the client lounge areas, working office spaces and meeting rooms. The brief was to create a scheme that was forward thinking but also sympathetic to the day to day requirements of a business within the law industry.
The main challenge of this scheme was getting the sheer volume of displays to the upper floors of the building! During the works on Shoosmiths office, there were many contractors all vying for use of the service lift – it proved time-consuming but once the displays were on the necessary floors, the installation went smoothly.
Judge’s comments
“This design and installation doesn’t disappoint in reality. It is beautifully designed and executed and the mixture of plants has been perfectly chosen to compliment the environment. Specimen plants are all stunning – Monstera, Strelitzia and Philodendron Xanadu.
“The planting in the kitchen area with Zamioculcas and Asplenium is stunning as well as replica plants suspended over eatery. Likewise the Epipremnum which trails along the floor, looks incredible. A ‘sunset garden’ with replica trees and shrubs which gives a clever English garden feel.
“All plants look very healthy and beautifully maintained. An excellent scheme which is faultless.
"A wonderfully different scheme which fuses practicality with interesting plant choices.”
