Clean Air Day - calling on plants

June 21 is the plants@work AGM - hope we'll see many of you there. We'll be busy electing a new committee and planning our activities for the coming year.

June 21 is also the longest day, the Summer Solstice, this year. This day always falls within a day or so every year and has been celebrated since forever. The Summer Solstice is well known here in the south for its link with Stonehenge and when the Druids flock to the Stones to watch the sunrise and celebrate the longest day.

Clean Air Day
More topical this year is the fact that 21 June has also been designated as Clean Air Day to raise awareness of our need to address pollution.

Hay fever-busting bouquets

Are you suffering with hay fever? The Met Office estimates that one in five UK residents are hay fever sufferers, so this season can signal three months of sneezing. This could mean people avoiding flowers altogether!

The helpful Flower Council of Holland via Funny How Flowers do that have helpfully put together the ultimate list of low-pollen flowers for a hay fever-proof bouquet or flowerr arrangement. The list launched last week just in time for the highest pollen count recorded for the year so far.
