National plants@work Week returns from 7–11 July, and we’re inviting everyone to take part in this celebration of the power of plants in our indoor spaces.

We held our AGM on Wednesday last week (18 June) and following reports of what we have covered and achieved in the past year (June 2024 - May 2025), the revised committee were voted back in. All are pleased to carry on and serve you for a further year.

Importantly, fees will also remain the same. We have reported the results including the new committee and the positions they will hold in the release which has gone out today.

Nurture Landscapes brought a burst of creativity and plant-filled joy to WeWork HQ in London, hosting a series of hands-on Kokedama workshops that had everyone rolling up their sleeves, getting a little muddy, and having a lot of laughs.

A recent study published in New Phytologist provides new insights into the evolutionary history and geographic distribution of orchids, one of the most diverse and ecologically significant plant families. While orchids have long been recognised as an ancient plant group, this research challenges previous assumptions about their primary origin and diversification. Using advanced phylogenetic analysis and speciation rate modelling, the study suggests that although orchids have existed for millions of years, the majority of modern orchid species diversity has emerged within the last 5 million years.
