Best Project 2025 and Gold Leaf

Nurture Landscapes

Project: Virgin Media O2

Completion: November–December 2024
Number of units: 311

The Virgin Media O2 project at Paddington represents the perfect union of creativity, precision, and collaboration. Installed by Nurture Landscapes, this large-scale interior landscaping project transformed the new joint headquarters of Virgin Media and O2 into a space that reflects both brands’ dynamic personalities — while maintaining harmony, balance, and design integrity throughout.

Working closely with Gensler, the ISS Project Team, and Virgin Media O2, Nurture Landscapes team ensured every detail of the planting scheme met the exceptionally high design standards. Weekly meetings allowed the teams to review plant and planter selections for each floor, ensuring each element supported the desired look, feel, and function of the spaces.

Each of the nine floors had a unique theme inspired by Virgin Media O2’s identity and culture, with planters and plants carefully curated to complement the colour palettes, textures, and stories of each space:

  • The Arena & Meeting Spaces: Social and collaborative areas styled in red and blue tones echoing both brands, balanced with sleek monochrome planters for a professional finish.

  • Dance: Dynamic, fluted, and pedestal planters were chosen to represent rhythm and movement.

  • Gaming: A challenging yet creative space — planters were upcycled and wrapped in iridescent film to capture the energy of gaming and sustainability in action.

  • Sport: Planters reflected the vibrancy of sport, with shapes and finishes inspired by trophies, courts, and fields.

  • Customer Experience Suite: Scandinavian influences with ribbed metal and wooden stands created a welcoming first impression.

To achieve this diversity, planters were sourced from the Dutch and UK suppliers and online and local markets — including Columbia Road and charity shops — adding unique character and sustainability to the mix.
All plants supplied were using hydroculture systems throughout, with vulkaponic soil for smaller installations. Replica plants were installed in kitchen areas for practicality.

This project, two years in the making, symbolises the coming together of two major brands — a “new home” that had to feel right for both. Through creativity, attention to detail, and collaboration, Nurture Landscapes delivered a planting scheme that not only met the brief but also elevated the entire interior design.

A truly deserving winner of the Gold Leaf Award and Best Project 2025.
