plants@work Ambassador Ian Drummond Receives RHS Long Service Medal

on Thursday, 25 June 2026. Posted in Latest News

plants@work is delighted to congratulate our Ambassador and Membership, Diversity and Inclusion Secretary, Ian Drummond, on being awarded a prestigious Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Long Service Medal in recognition of his 40 years of dedication to the houseplant and interior landscaping industry.

The medal was presented by RHS representative Chris Moncrieff during a ceremony held in the Glasshouse Room at RHS Wisley on 23 June 2026.

Receiving the award, Ian said: "I am thrilled to receive this honour for my 40 years in horticulture, an industry that I love and have gained so much from and wish to continue to support."

Ian's journey in horticulture began at just 13 years of age. Over the past four decades, he has become one of the UK's most respected and influential figures in interior landscaping, earning recognition as an award-winning interior landscape designer, plant stylist, author and industry ambassador.

Known for his work with high-profile clients including Sir Elton John, BAFTA and London Fashion Week, Ian has helped transform perceptions of indoor plants from decorative features to essential elements of healthy, biophilic environments. His innovative approach has played a significant role in advancing the profile of interior landscaping and the benefits of plants in built environments.

Throughout his career, Ian has received numerous industry accolades, including multiple RHS Chelsea Flower Show Gold Medals and plants@work Gold Leaf Awards. Earlier this year, he was named Best in Horticulture at the UK Business Awards, featured in Horticulture Week's Houseplant Leaders List 2026, and shortlisted for the Pro Landscaper Landscaping Champion Award.

As a longstanding advocate for the interior landscaping sector and a passionate supporter of plants@work, Ian continues to inspire professionals across the industry through his creativity, expertise and commitment to promoting the value of plants in our workplaces and public spaces.

Just last week, plants@work celebrated Ian's remarkable 40-year career with a special Ruby Jubilee presentation. During the association's annual gathering, plants@work Chairman Kenneth Freeman presented Ian with a commemorative "Ruby Watering Can" in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the industry and his continued dedication to supporting the plants@work community.

On behalf of the entire plants@work membership, we congratulate Ian on this well-deserved RHS honour and thank him for his enduring contribution to horticulture, interior landscaping and our industry as a whole.
