Tucked in the heart of Edinburgh, the Kimpton Charlotte Square Hotel offers more than just a luxury stay — it invites you into a beautifully curated, plant-filled escape from the everyday.

The main areas of the hotel are designed around the concept of a tranquil garden, with interior planting playing a starring role. Thoughtfully placed displays of lush, living greenery bring a sense of calm and vitality to every corner, transforming communal spaces into peaceful, restorative environments.

From elegant tropical foliage to soft trailing plants, the greenery complements the hotel’s contemporary design with natural texture, movement, and colour. Whether you're checking in, enjoying a quiet coffee, or catching up on emails in the lounge, the presence of plants enhances the experience, encouraging guests to slow down, breathe deeply, and reconnect with nature.

The interior landscaping features a variety of carefully selected plant species chosen for their lush aesthetic and suitability for indoor environments. Among them are Ficus lyrata, Monstera deliciosa, Rhipsalis, and a variety of Philodendrons, all chosen to create a vibrant, tropical atmosphere. Ficus were also used in a more structural way:

"We loved using a couple of lattice canopy Ficus at the entrance, which made you feel you were walking into another world. Ficus lyrata, Monsteras and lots of Rhipsalis and Philodendrons created a tropical, natural look,"  said Belinda Jarron of Fleurtations Plantscapes, the company behind the design and ongoing care of the hotel's planting scheme.
