Industry Experts Vote Philodendron 'Favourite Office Plant of the Year 2026'

Philodendron has been crowned Favourite Office Plant of the Year 2026 following a vote by members of the plants@work association during National plants@work Week (6–10 July 2026).

The annual award recognises the plants that interior landscaping professionals value most for creating healthier, more attractive and more productive workplaces. Voted for by experts from across the industry, the accolade celebrates the plants that consistently deliver outstanding visual appeal, reliability and lasting value in commercial interiors.

The Philodendron claimed the top honour thanks to its exceptional versatility and enduring popularity in workplace design. With hundreds of species and cultivars available, these plants have become a cornerstone of interior landscaping, offering a wide range of forms, foliage colours and sizes to suit everything from desks and breakout spaces to receptions and large open-plan offices.

Renowned for their lush tropical foliage, adaptability and ease of care, Philodendrons thrive in indoor environments and are well suited to the demands of modern workplaces. Their bold yet elegant appearance allows them to complement a wide variety of interiors, while their dependable performance has made them a favourite among interior landscapers and facilities managers.

While the Philodendron took the top spot, two other fantastic plants received significant praise from plants@work members:

2nd Place – Strelitzia (Bird of Paradise) Recognised for its dramatic architectural form, Strelitzia continues to be a popular choice for receptions, atriums and meeting spaces where a bold statement is required.

3rd Place – Scindapsus (Satin Pothos) Praised for its adaptability and ease of maintenance, Scindapsus is ideal for shelves, hanging displays and compact office environments.

The announcement forms part of National plants@work Week 2026, the annual campaign promoting the role of plants in creating healthier, happier and more productive workplaces. Throughout the week, the association is encouraging businesses to discover how biophilic design can improve employee wellbeing, reduce stress and create more engaging working environments.

As part of this year's celebrations, plants@work has launched The Green Journey—a mobile installation showcasing the positive impact of interior planting.
