A Garden That Gives Back: Nurture Group and Hospice UK Celebrate Silver Gilt Success at RHS Chelsea and Look Ahead to a Lasting Legacy
Following its Silver Gilt medal win at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2025, the Garden of Compassion—designed for Hospice UK—is set to continue its journey as a lasting place of solace, healing, and connection. Supported by a £25,000 donation from Nurture Group, the garden will be permanently relocated to St Cuthbert’s Hospice in Durham, where it will offer patients, families, and staff a peaceful sanctuary for years to come.

As a proud corporate partner of Hospice UK, Nurture Group’s sponsorship of the garden reinforces the company’s belief in the transformative power of nature, especially in spaces of care and reflection. The Garden of Compassion was designed by Tom Hoblyn, with accessibility and emotional wellbeing at its core. Developed in consultation with hospice occupational therapists, the garden features hospital-bed and wheelchair-friendly paths, climate-resilient planting, and handcrafted seating made from sustainable, locally sourced materials.
Peter Fane, founder and Executive Chairman of Nurture Group, shared:
“Gardens have a unique ability to provide solace, dignity and connection, particularly at the most challenging times in life. We’re proud to support Hospice UK in their extraordinary mission and are especially moved to know that this space will continue to comfort others long after the show is over. This garden is a living legacy—proof of how nurturing green spaces today can leave a meaningful mark on the future.”
As the garden finds its new home in Durham, it symbolises much more than Chelsea prestige—it is a tangible expression of Hospice UK’s mission to make compassionate care and connection accessible to all.

Catherine Bosworth, Director of Income Generation at Hospice UK, added:
“Hospice gardens are places where people can simply be—where nature offers comfort without words. The Garden of Compassion shows how vital these spaces are. With the support of Nurture Group, we are not only raising awareness but ensuring real, lasting impact.”
This collaboration is one of several initiatives that reflect Nurture Group’s deepening ESG commitments, which include:
A science-based target to reach net-zero by 2040
Ongoing support for Perennial, the UK’s only charity supporting horticultural professionals
Participation in last year’s Forest Bathing Garden for Muscular Dystrophy UK at RHS Chelsea 2024
As the Garden of Compassion moves from a showpiece to a permanent place of healing, it stands as a reminder that the true value of a garden lies not just in how it looks, but in how it makes people feel, especially when they need it most.
